History
The first Camp Spofford Golf Classic was held in the spring of 1991 with a group of 40 individuals who gathered together for Christ-Centered fellowship, fun, and encouragement in their Christian walk. Since its inception, the Golf Classic has grown consistently in participants and outreach, and presently averages 120 players each year, providing Christian Fellowship with a purpose.
As the Camp Spofford Golf Classic continues to grow, our goals have remained consistent throughout:
- To provide an atmosphere and time of Christian Fellowship through the interaction of golf
- To provide a format for Christians to invite non-Christians as an outreach
- To share with others the ministry of Camp Spofford
- To provide funding for the Camper Scholarship Fund

Camper Scholarship Fund
Since 1997 the Camper Scholarship Fund, established through the Golf Classic, has assisted in providing full and partial scholarships to families who could not afford to send their children to camp for a week. Over 400 scholarships have been presented since the development of this fund. And through this, these kids were able to encounter the "Spofford Experience," encompassing the presentation of the Word of God and plan of salvation, as well as His love through the beauty of His creation and Camp's Staff. (Note: People are welcome to donate to the Camper Scholarship fund without having to participate in the Golf Outing.)
It is exhilarating to see, read and hear of the impact this ministry has had on the hearts and lives of campers made available through this program. This has been made evident through personal phone calls, the exchange of letters, and school presentations following the camp experience.
2009 Scholarship Disbursement
- Total Individual Scholarships Given during the 2009 Camping Season: 102
