Summer of 2010 - Thanks to Everyone!
2009 was a great summer. We are so thankful for everyone that comitted their summer to serving others and glorifying God! Camp Spofford was a special place for many families and kids thanks to the work you did.
If you are already thinking about the summer of 2011, applications will be availble in October 2010 and due February 1, 2011. Thanks again
2010 Staffers and Rookies of the Year!
Shari Peterson: Waitstaff - great attitude, on time, consistent hard worker. She volunteers to do extra in her own department as well as others - always with a smile and contagious enthusiasm.
Tyler Godden: Pre-Campers - enthusiastic, taking the initiative with the team. Solid worker even in the little things, always pleasant and encouarging. Took time to participate in Youth Camp Chapel.
Lizzy Olson: Housekeeping - Outstanding worker showing leadership and initiative in her department. Positive and encouraging attitude on and off the job. Always willing to go the extra step, even in a down time.
Shaun Kozlowski: Maintenance/Music Staff - Excellent in every way. Always doing something extra, ready to jump in and help out in any way needed. Very respectful, always with a good attitude and smile.

Leadership Staff
PURPOSE: The Head of Girls' Staff is responsible for the supervision and spiritual nurture of all girls staff excluding those serving as counselors and the time during which youth staff are on job assignments.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Director of Camp Ministries
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer the policies set forth in the Camp Staff Manual as they relate to the youth staff, particularly in areas of attendance, pranks, inter-staff relationships, curfew, etc. Enforce appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary. Staff heads will live in the staff cabins with the youth staff to facilitate this administration.
- By modeling and instruction, set the spiritual tone for the youth staff (ages 15-21). Encourage them in their spiritual growth through personal friendships, morning prayer, chapels, evening devotions, one-on-one discipleship, etc.
- Establish rapport as much as possible with youth staff to enable ministry to personal or relational needs that develop during the summer. Take appropriate initiative in reaching out to their questions and problems.
- Plan and direct a weekly staff social.
- Interact appropriately with each other, the Camp Administrator, the Director of Camp Ministries and the staff Pastor for counsel, encouragement and prayer. It is particularly important for the Heads of Staff to work closely together and to develop a unified front and one mind and heart in their ministry.
- Act as a floater for the Camp Administrator. This can include filling in for other people on their days off and helping in any area of camp where needed.
- On day off, find replacements for any normal responsibilities such as devotions, enforcing curfew, etc.
- Meet regularly with Director of Camp Ministries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Spiritual maturity to be able to speak to teens from personal experience and God's Word concerning the Christian life, and to relate honestly and humbly about personal challenges and mistakes.
- Leadership that is bold enough to confront sin when necessary and to discipline rebellion or disobedience, and is tender enough to listen, understand and guide teens lovingly to God's best.
- A love for and understanding of teens, demonstrated by a good sense of humor and much patience.
PURPOSE: The Explorer Program Director is a summer position designed to assist the Program Director by caring for the physical and spiritual needs of the campers in the Explorer Program.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable to the Program Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement the Explorer and Family Camp program prepared with the Program Director.
- Assist the Program Director in any way possible with the camper program.
- Meet with the Program Director to discuss problems, schedules, camp in general, and share specific prayer needs.
- Teach Bible studies and various electives offered in the Explorer Program.
- Always seek opportunities for sharing Jesus Christ with kids involved in the Explorer Program.
- Assume work assignments to keep camp operating and presentable, showing care for all camp properties, material, and equipment.
- Be flexible and available in any area necessary, looking to meet the needs of those being served at Camp.
- Be actively involved in a daily quite time, being careful to maintain spiritual growth throughout the summer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Explorer Program Director should ideally be a college student looking to do their internship, or be between the ages of 21-25
- Must exhibit a genuine love for kids with a willingness to serve their interests before their own.
- Must exude leadership qualities.
- Have a mature, personal commitment to Jesus Christ as evidenced in their daily life.
- Preference to prior Camp Spofford Counseling staff experience
- Become certified from American Red Cross in Community First Aid

Counseling Staff
PURPOSE: To care for the physical and spiritual needs of the camper, cooperation with other counselors and staff by completing work assignments as described by the program director.
ACCOUNTABILITY: To the Program Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be actively involved in a daily quiet time maintaining spiritual growth throughout the summer.
- Participate in pre-summer preparation and post summer evaluation.
- Interview each camper in your cabin within the first 36 hours of each week.
- Meet daily with program director to discuss problems, schedule, camp in general and to pray for needs.
- Adhere to daily schedule made by those in charge of program.
- Maintain responsibility for health and safety of cabin group.
- Teach and/or assist camper electives and Bible studies.
- Always seek opportunities for counseling and sharing Jesus Christ with campers on a one-to-one basis.
- Assume work assignments to keep camp operating and presentable, showing care for all camp properties, materials, and equipment.
- Fill out camper evaluations and assist in camper follow-up.
- Be flexible and available in any area necessary, looking to meet the needs of those being served.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a mature Christian with a strong desire to see campers come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
- Have a warm, friendly and outgoing personality.
- Be able to get along with peers as well as younger children.
Support Staff
PURPOSE: Maintain the grounds and buildings so that they would enhance the total function and purpose of Camp.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Directly accountable to the director of maintenance
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collect all garbage and dump into the dumpster.
- Mow and trim the grounds on a weekly basis.
- Do general maintenance which would include; painting, light carpentry, trim trees, gather wood for campfire, etc.
- Assist the director of maintenance in any major jobs.
- Make sure care and caution is used at all times in operating any piece of equipment.
- Do all jobs to the best of your ability. Don't rush to just get done.
- Be sensitive to the needs of guests and peers.
- Work a minimum of one night a week in Knute's.
- Expect to work a minimum of 6 hours per day or 36-40 hours a week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have a sincere desire to serve the Lord with a "servant-like" attitude.
- Be able to follow instruction and submit to authority.
- Be able to work together with others to form a team spirit.
- Be able to handle "strenuous" work.
- Be able to work outside in hot weather.
- Be able to follow instructions and submit to authority.
PURPOSE: Wait staff is responsible for seeing that the dining room is set up and cleaned up before and after each meal as well as serving the needs of guests during the meal
ACCOUNTABILITY: Directly accountable to the dining room hostess.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Wait staff should arrive at the dining hall one hour before each meal is scheduled to be served so that tables can be set up and meals eaten before the guests arrive.
- During the meal, wait staff will be responsible for 3-4 tables. They should be providing beverages, assisting with special food needs and meeting any other needs relating to food and drink that the guests might have (for example, providing a high chair).
- After the guests have completed their meal, the wait staff will begin clearing his/her tables and will clean up the tables, chairs and surrounding floor area.
- Wait staff will be expected to assist in the dishroom when needed.
- On Saturday, the mornings are spent doing major housecleaning chores in the dining hall such as window washing, refilling napkin dispensers, thorough vacuuming, etc.
- Uniforms must be worn for every meal unless otherwise directed.
- Work a minimum of one night a week in Knute's.
- Expect to work a minimum of 6 hours per day or 36-40 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A sincere desire to serve the Lord with a "servant-like attitude."
- Friendly, outgoing personality.
- Have an ability to deal cheerfully with many different types of people, some of whom can be very demanding at times.
- Be able to work together with others to form a team spirit.
- Be able to follow instructions and submit to authority.
PURPOSE: ThePre-camper staff is responsible for assisting in a program that provides a caring, warm environment in which parents may leave their children with confidence, while they enjoy the services and adult activities.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Directly accountable to the Head of Head of Pre-campers
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To assist in the care and safety of the children.
- To always be on time and to never leave the children unattended.
- To make the parents feel comfortable in leaving their children.
- To assist in providing a program that will teach the children of God's love for them.
- To assist in keeping the pre-camper and nursery rooms clean and healthy.
- To assist in the thorough cleaning of the rooms at least once each week.
- To assist in the operation of the snack shops by helping to cover the afternoon and evening hours the shops are open.
- Nursery workers will also be required to work one night in Knutes
- Expect to work a minimum of 6 hours per day or 36-40 hours a week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A sincere desire to serve the Lord with a "servant-like attitude."
- A real love and patience with little children.
- A real sense that this is a ministry to reach little children for Christ.
- Be able to follow instructions and submit to authority.
PURPOSE: To assist the Waterfront Director in the upkeep of the waterfront, docks and boats as well as provide a full program of activities and to maintain a safe and wholesome environment at all times.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Directly to the Waterfront Director and Maintenance Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide safe boating experiences for guests, campers and staff.
- Basic maintenance and daily cleaning of pontoon and ski boats.
- Weekly pull both ski boats from water for thorough cleaning and oil change .
- Responsible for skis, tubes and ropes.
- Report all boat and dock maintenance needs to Maintenance Director.
- Provide lifeguard coverage as needed.
- Participate in special programs and waterfront activities as needed.
- Realize the tremendous responsibility of the position and to be alert and punctual at all times.
- Expect to work a minimum of 6 hours per day or 36-40 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a valid Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate.
- Possession of a valid New Hampshire Commercial Boating License. (Obtained through Camp Spofford)
- Have a love for people and children in particular.
- Have a sincere desire to serve the Lord with a "servant-like" attitude.
- Be able to work together with others to form a team spirit.
- Be able to follow instructions and submit to authority.
PURPOSE: The housekeeping staff is responsible for the cleanliness of all guest facilities and other areas as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITY: To the Head of Housekeeping
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean all community bathrooms daily or more often as needed.
- Clean and prepare guest rooms and bathrooms every Saturday or when directed.
- Each day clean and tidy-up guest rooms and bathrooms as directed.
- Clean and vacuum lounges daily.
- Wash and dry laundry as needed and directed.
- Keep laundry and supply rooms neat and clean at all times.
- Expect to carry out special projects after daily routine is complete.
- Expect to work 6 hours per day or 36-40 hours per week.
- Expect to work a minimum of two night a week in Knute's.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A sincere desire to serve the Lord with a "servant-like attitude."
- Be able to deal with many different types of people, many who will be very demanding.

- To realize the tremendous responsibility of the position and to be alert and punctual at all times.
- Expect to work a minimum of 6 hours per day or 36-40 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:

PURPOSE: Contribute to the general operation of the food service program
ACCOUNTABILITY: Food Service Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in preparing and serving meals
- Assist in putting away orders and cleaning the kitchen
- Help in dishroom or dining room as needed
- Expect to work a minimum of 40 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A strong desire to serve the Lord with a "servant-like" attitude
- A desire to work together with others to form a team spirit
- Be able to respect and follow authority
* Note that long pants must be worn in the kitchen and dishroom area
PURPOSE: Contribute towards the operation of the food service program
ACCOUNTABILITY: Director of Food Service
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Turn on dishwasher before each meal and set out hot pans for silverware.
- Wipe down counters around dishwasher after each meal.
- Stack dishes according to color, design, size, etc.
- Clean out inside of dishwasher after each meal.
- Sweep and mop floor of dishroom area after each meal.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floor after evening meal.
- Wipe down all electrical appliances after evening meal.
- Check garbage bags after each meal, if full, take out to dumpster. After evening meal, all bags must go out to dumpster.
- Check with Director of Food Service before leaving.
- Expect to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A strong desire to serve the Lord with a "servant-like" attitude.
- A desire to work together with others to form a team spirit.
- Be able to follow instructions
- Be able to respect and submit to authority.
Music Staff
PURPOSE: The Music Staff will be hired with their main responsibility being to perform the Saturday Night Concert, provide special music during chapel services, and work in the Kafe. They will also be called upon to assist as operational staff as needed. If you are applying for music staff as any of your three choices, you must send an audition tape by Feb. 1 to Kathy Benjamin (18 Hardy Road , Levittown , PA 19056 ).
ACCOUNTABILITY: Directly accountable to the Music Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be present and on time for all rehearsals.
- Faithfully commit yourself to all times set aside for individual practices.
- Learn and memorize all music assigned to you.
- Daily spend personal time with the Lord to prepare yourself for ministry through music.
- Be sensitive to other music staff and support them with prayer.
- Be willing to serve in a moment's notice with a smile.
- Expect to work two nights per week in Knute's.
- Assisting in the upkeep of the chapel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have musical talent
- Must be committed to "lifting up Jesus Christ" with their music and lifestyle
- Must be able to sing on pitch
- Must be able to hold a part independent of others
- Must be a willing and happy worker who can adapt to any situation
- Must have a genuine desire to serve the Lord and think of others before self
- Must be able to follow instructions and submit to authority
