...A camper and staffer experience for 15-year-olds

Nothing can change the landscape of an area more drastically than an Earthquake. It shakes the ground from the foundation up and can create a completely new perspective of what was just there. Aftershocks are quick to follow and remind everyone that they just experienced an earthquake. With every aftershock there is a reminder that something, if not everything, is now different.
No one has shaken our foundation more than Jesus Christ. Only He can change how we look at everything. Many of you have seen this impact of Jesus Christ in your life through your time here at Camp Spofford. A summer at Camp Spofford can be an experience that will shake your foundation, and forever change your perspective.
Aftershock started in summer of 2007 and is for 15 year olds. You will come together with 19 others and the bond you will experience will bring everyone together with a common goal. It si a six-week program where your faith will be shaken, challenged, and strengthened. This takes place through daily Bible studies and serving others at camp through assigned work crews. In edition, there is no shortage of exciting activities to enjoy. You will feel the effects of Jesus Christ, have the blessing of putting your faith in action, and letting everyone know that there is something different. Take the chance and experience an aftershock!
What You Will Be Doing!
Week 1 - Join the rest of the Teen Week campers for a week of high energy and excitement. You will be participating in most of the activities as a typical Teen Week camper. Bible studies will be happening daily in both large and small groups. You will also begin working on the Creek Restoration.
Week 2 - Get more intimate with God and each other through unique activities and work. You will also begin getting acquainted with the department you will be working in. You will spend time with your department head, and get some on-the-job training!
Week 3 - This will be a special week for you as you will be spending the week away from Camp Spofford. Everyone will be going to Camp Good News, where you will be staying at a wilderness camp, participating in a ropes course, climbing wall, and some other outdoor activities!
Week 4-6 - You will be moving into the Staff Cabins and will begin working with one of our Staff Departments. Join in with any of the Staff Activities that will be happening weekly. You will also continue with the daily Bible Studies and fellowship with each other.
Creek Restoration Project
Every year the Aftershock campers will be working on a Project to improve Camp Spofford. Over the first three weeks everyone will be working daily to leave their mark on Spofford. In 2008 the project will be the creek behind the playground. If we have an eyesore, this would be it. You will we working on rebuilding the rock wall, filling in around exposed roots, and planting grass.
Cost
This six-week program is available at the affordably price of just $550!! (That's less than the cost of two weeks as a camper) Applications are due by December 15.
What You Need To Know
- Aftershock begins Sunday, July 20 and goes through Labor Day.
- You are permitted to leave before Labor Day for school-related reasons.
- All participants will be selected through an application process.
- The longer you are able to stay, the higher chance you have of being selected.
