Family Missions Focus

by Daniel Syvertsen

Read the blog from the team while they were in Costa Rica.

In September we held our first Family Missions Trip. After 5 years of taking our counselors to Panama, God opened a new door for us to take a team of adults to Costa Rica. The 2011 team consisted of 3 married couples and one father/son duo. They were led by Dave Nelson and spent a week at Campamento Roblealto in Costa Rica. The purpose of the team was to be a support to Roblealto as they minister to campers.

They spent the majority of the week working on refurbishing many of their camper cabins. The team replaced floor boards, painted and worked on other cosmetic projects in the cabins.

Here is an excerpt from the blog that was kept while in Costa Rica:

After arriving in this beautiful country and spending the first day and a half resting up and playing tourist, I found myself thinking 'why are we really here'? Our whole team has been enjoying themselves. The food has been great; the fellowship among the team has been great. We have had some good devotions together and engaged in some loving discussions over some biblical interpretations and view points. Yesterday gave me the answer of why we are here. Our first work day! Finally doing what we came here for!

It gives you a sense of what went on during their time together. It was a time not just to work through them, but to work in them! We are so excited to be able to provide this opportunity for families to stretch themselves through missions and allow God to work in their lives.
