Residential Facilities for Retreat Season

Spofford WinterGranite Lodge: Completed in 2006, our newest accommodation houses ten units of various sizes with built-in custom made beds, from 1 Queen to a Queen and two bunks (housing for 6). All have private baths. Granite Lodge is built into the side of a hill, and the basement level includes a spacious and comfortable conference area (with public restrooms) that looks out over Camp Spofford's playground. The main level opens into an entrance lounge and contains Units 1 through 4. Units 5 through 10 are on the top floor and are accessible through stair-wells.  For more information on our Granite Lodge Conference Room, see below. Chalet:Renovated in 2005, the Chalet has four rooms on the first floor and two rooms on the second floor. All units have built-in custom-made beds, and most include a queen-sized mattress with two or more bunks.  All come with private baths and are adjacent to a central lounge area with a large granite fireplace in use during the colder months of our Retreat Season.  Around mid-October, we begin serving all meals in Knute's cafe, located in the basement level of the Chalet.  For more information on Knute’s Kafe, see below. Hampshire:This building has two motel-style units opening onto a common porch that looks out at the Chalet and Granite Lodge. Chalet LoungeCheshire:Built in the late 1990’s, this spacious building has two guest units on the main floor, each with a private bath, one queen-sized bed and, in the Retreat Season, two to three bunks.  This building also has an adjacent conference area that can be divided into two separate spaces when necessary.  We also offer the Cheshire Common Lounge to our guests as a small conference room or simply a place to quietly relax with a good book!  For more information on our Cheshire Conference Room and Common Lounge, see below. Chesterfield: Nestled in the trees behind our office complex, this two-unit building is available in the early fall and late spring. While sharing a common porch, each unit opens into a furnished living room area and has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two bunks. Each unit can hold up to 8 people if using the fold-out couch within the living room. Pisgah: Named after a local state park, the Pisgah Building takes on many roles during the summer months, including Nurse's Station and Family Camp Nursery. In the fall and spring months, it transforms into retreat housing. It holds 5 bedrooms and a total of 19 beds, as well as two comfortable lounge areas.

Tentels: Available only to our early fall and late spring guests!  Each Tentel has two sides with a double bed and one bunk per side. Groups of up to 4 can use 1/2 of a Tentel. A door in the middle can be opened to accommodate groups with more than four.  A bathhouse with showers is within easy walking distance. See pictures! - Exterior of Tentel, Interior of Tentel

Campsites: Available in the early fall and late spring, we have campsites for trailers and tents. Sites have electric and water hook-up. No open fires are permitted. A central bathhouse with showers is available for all sites. See pictures! - Camp Sites adjacent to tennis courts

NOTE: Linens are NOT automatically provided with any of our accommodations.  These can be rented for $10 per set, with prior arrangement through our Director of Retreats.df

Conference Facilities for Retreats

All of our conference facilities are capable of fulfilling your audio/visual needs, including the use of a TV, DVD player, projector and screen.  All can accommodate tables and chairs set up to your specifications.

Granite Lodge Conference Room:  Looking out over our wooded playground and stream, the Granite Lodge Conference room is an open space that can comfortably seat up to 110 people with audience-style seating.  Men’s and women’s restrooms are located off the conference room, and the entrance to Knute’s Kafe is only 60 feet away. 

Knute’s Kafe:  Around mid-October, all food service operations for the camp move up to Knute’s until Spring!  We serve buffet-style, and can seat up to 107 people in comfortable booths and tables.  A beverage area is available throughout your time with us, serving coffee, assorted teas, and hot chocolate.  We are happy to discuss meal and snack time requests when planning your retreat or event. 

Hansen Center Game RoomKnute’s is also the perfect location for one to two-day workshops.  We are happy to note that we have hosted many local groups and companies for everything from morning brunches to multiple-day training sessions, supplying a projector and screen for any presentations that they have.  Please call to discuss how we can work with you!

Cheshire Conference Room:  Overlooking our ball field, this open space seats up to 90 people and has a divider which can create two separate conference areas when necessary.  A small restroom adjoins both spaces when divided .See pictures! - Cheshire Meeting/Conference Room

Cheshire Common Lounge: With a “sportsman’s décor,” this comfortable room is perfect for small group meetings or cozying up with a good book.  We can seat up to 30 people.  A restroom adjoins this space.

Gym:  Completed in 2001, our gymnasium boasts a full-sized basketball/volleyball court with full sidelines, retractable bleachers, and a poured rubber floor.  The front doors open into a large foyer with soda and candy vending machines.  Other rooms include a workout facility, a snack shop for afterwards, a seating lounge for up to 30, and a game lounge with foosball, air hockey, carpet ball, and ping pong.  A stage is located off the center of the far side-line for performances, and the gym itself can seat over 300.  For youth groups, we have a full set of black lights which make for awesome late-night games!
